Summer 2009 is here!

Summer 2009 is here! On Friday, June 5th our program staff and unit leaders joined us at Double H to kick off the summer- it was great to see so many familiar and new faces at camp!

After several days of training everyone was excited and ready to welcome our families for Camp Inspiration. To see the smiling faces of campers as they entered the Adirondack Room and were already excited to go swimming, conquer the ropes course, create projects in arts and crafts and make new friends was an amazing moment for everyone. After five fun filled days at Double H, we said goodbye to our Camp Inspiration families. 

On June 16th our entire Summer 2009 team joined us at Double H! After completing seven days of comprehensive training the staff were ready to Shine in ’09. On June 25th, camp became filled with cheers and laughter as our first group of campers entered the grounds to kickoff Summer 2009! Be sure to check back for more camp stories throughout the summer.

10 Days Till Camp!

Just 10 days till camp…Our summer residential campers are counting down the days until their Week in the Woods. Thank you to our donors who are responsible for sending our children to camp, by supporting this year’s camper sponsorship appeal.

We are on track and moving toward our goal and would like to attribute this success to-date to an early kick off, a great radio spot created by one of our committed volunteers and to a cool countdown to campaign print ad, but who are we kidding. These results are due to you! YOU - an individual who is choosing to sponsor a camper for the first time this year; YOU – an organization who, after 10 years, is finding your back to the Double H family this year; YOU - a loyal constituents whom we can count on year after year - for staying close to our mission of providing summer camp, FREE-of-charge, to the Double H children. Because of YOU, laughter and magic will be abound in just a few more days.

A Week of Volunteers, Donors, Counselors and Motorcycles

It has been a busy week here at the Double H Ranch. With just a few weeks left until the campers arrive it’s a very exciting time of year!

This past Saturday we opened our doors to over 200 volunteers as they helped us prepare our grounds for the arrival of our campers. Volunteers from local businesses, schools and community groups came out to support the Double H by doing projects such as painting, cleaning, and gardening. The camp looks great!

On Tuesday, as a way to thank our donors we hosted our Donor Recognition Camp Crawl which offered guests the opportunity to visit program areas such as Arts & Crafts, High Ropes and Discovery. Making slime was a big hit and the food was delicious!

To round out the week, we are host to the 2009 Americade Poker Run. Annually the Double H is the start and finish line to the Americade’s Charity Poker Run. It’s an amazing sight to see hundreds of bikes ride through the Double H. Soon enough we will be replacing the sound of motorcycles for the sound of our camper’s laughter.
