What is the Mission of the Double H Ranch?
The mission of the Double H Ranch is to provide specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families dealing with a life-threatening illness.Our purpose is to enrich their lives and provide camp experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound.All programs are FREE of charge and capture the magic of the Adirondacks.

Who Does Double H Serve?
Summer Residential Camp serves children dealing with a life-threatening illness ages 6 - 16 and their families in need – these are children whose condition precludes their attendance at other camps. The Adaptive Winter Sports Program serves children dealing with chronic and life-threatening illnesses ages 6-18 and their families. During the spring and fall our weekends our fully booked with Family-Based Programs, providing physical and emotional support to children and their families.

How Much Does it Cost to Attend?
All Double H Ranch programs are FREE of charge to children and their families.

When was Double H Founded?
The Double H Ranch was founded in 1991 by Charles R. Wood and Paul Newman. The Adaptive Winter Sports Program began in 1998.

How Many Children Does the Double H Serve?
The Double H serves approximately 900 children each summer over 8 sessions, each lasting a week. In the winter season our volunteer ski instructors and ski patrollers teach about 125 students and their families in over 500 lessons over twelve weekends. During the spring and fall we serve over 600 individuals in our Family-based Programs weekend retreats.

How Many Staff?
The summer camper to staff ratio is 2:1 which means that each camp session requires approximately 65 staff on hand.The Adaptive Winter Sports Program includes 200 volunteer ski instructors and National Ski Patrol, and the winter sports enthusiast to instructor ratio is 1:1.

What is the Campaign for the Health and Happiness of Special Children?
The campaign is a two-year effort to raise $15 million that once invested, will contribute approximately $800,000 per year to the Double H Ranch’s operating fund.
