Summer Staff

Summer 2010

We are happy to announce that we have completed our summer residential camp counselor hiring process and all positions have been filled for Summer 2010. Please check out our Volunteer Opportunities section if you are interested joining the team.

For summer sessions the Double H Ranch hires 125 staff to work from June until the end of August.  Hiring takes place between January and March so please get your application in as soon as possible.  Applications are available the first of the year and our interview season runs from mid-January to the beginning of April.

Working a summer at Double H is not your typical summer job.  Camp can be known as the longest days of the shortest summer of your life.  It is a demanding experience that requires a residential commitment, long hours and limited time off, but the experience you gain and difference you make is astounding.  You walk away at the end of the summer never truly realizing the impact you made on the children you met, but always remembering the difference they made in your own life.

Housekeeping

During summer, we hire approximately 6 housekeepers to assist with the cleanliness of our buildings and program areas.  Housekeepers are responsible for stocking supplies, sweeping, mopping, disinfecting bathrooms, laundry and other cleaning related duties.  Housekeepers work a rotating schedule (5 days per week, 40 hours per week with varying days off) and the starting pay is $8.25 per hour.

As a camper you see the counselors - they’re your big brothers, your father, your uncles; they’re the people that you strive to be.  To have that responsibility on your back is the most rewarding thing in the world.  I mean to have a little kid right next to you saying I want to be like you and you can make a positive influence on his or her life, I mean that’s incredible.

From camp I think love has been defined as constant, devotion, you put everything that you have into this place and you don’t care how tired you get or how run down; it’s OK because you have the best support system around you and you know that you’re going to bounce right back and that your team is going to help you and the kids are going to appreciate everything you do.

Camp is my blood. It’s what makes me live. Double H is what makes my heart pump and what makes me live.

- Chris Woll, Camper turned Counselor
