Our facility functions year-round with two main “seasons”: the Adaptive Winter Sports Program (January-April) and our Summer Residential Camp Program (June-August). We host either Family- and/or Theme-Based Programming on most “off-season” weekends that serve children, adults and families. In the past few years, our volunteers have found roles primarily in the Summer and Winter Programs. You will see reference to this both in the opportunities mentioned below, as well as on our Volunteer Application. However, we are currently in the process of integrating more volunteers throughout the year and look forward to creating more additions to this list.

Adaptive Winter Sports Program Volunteers

Ski Patrol: Experienced individuals provide supervision and First Aid to our skiers.
Ski and/or Snowboarding Instructor: Teaching the children to participate in various winter sports with or without the aid of adaptive equipment. (We have a training program that instructors complete prior to January.)
Ski Lodge Host: Serving soup, snacks, and hospitality while maintaining cleanliness of the Lodge.

Summer & Year-Round Volunteers

The summer and year-round volunteers fall into one of two categories: General and Session. General Volunteers are welcome anytime throughout the year, and Session Volunteers are those who have committed to one of our (8) scheduled Summer Sessions

Clinical Volunteer: (MD, RN, LPN, Nurse Practitioner) Providing both gentle and experienced onsite care to our campers. We could not run our program without our volunteer nurses and Doctors! Each session we strive to have 10 volunteer nurses (1 per cabin) and one on-site physician to provide medical care for our campers and have fun with them in a camp environment. Thanks to our 2007 medical volunteers for keeping us all safe and well this season!

Session Volunteers: (Must be at least 19 years of age, or have completed one year of college)

Cabin Counselor: Working alongside our full time staff to create a fun camp experience for kids.

 General Volunteers
General Volunteers can help in all areas of our Summer Program with exception to the role of Camp Counselor. Volunteers usually participate in at least one day during each Summer Session. Each of the opportunities listed below can be extended to the Session commitment (unless otherwise stated).

Program Volunteer:
Facilitating the “success” of the children participating in various activities. There are several areas to which Program Volunteers can contribute: Pottery, Equestrian, Small Animals, Arts & Crafts, Creative Arts (Music & Drama). Programs only operate on scheduled days during the summer and can use help from 8.30am - Noon and 2:30pm – 5:30pm.

Registration/Departure Day(s):
Every week during the summer we welcome children to camp and then 6 days later bid them a heartfelt goodbye. On these days, we need help to emit love to the children while keeping track of attendance and belongings. We need the most help from 8:45am until the bulk of campers have been accounted for (usually around Noon)

Driver:
Driving Ranch vehicles for transport needs to Albany Airport & Local Bus Terminals. (A CDL is preferred but not mandatory.) The highest demand for this service is in the summer months.

Fundraising/Special Events:
Assisting with events such as our annual Gala and Sagamore Golf Classic. Such events provide us with needed funds to host children at our camp free of charge. Roles include registration of guests, assisting with the Auctions, general duties.

Gift Shop:
“Manning” our merchandise table at registration and departure days and several events/special days throughout the year.

Housekeeping:
Folding of linens and assisting with general cleaning duties. We operate year-round!

Maintenance/Grounds:
Sweeping & maintaining the common areas, painting, raking, gardening, etc.

Community Work Groups:
Volunteering with a group of fellow co-workers. This is a team-building opportunity for your organization while assisting us with grounds and/or maintenance work.

Other:
