The Double H Ranch is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2019 Volunteer of the Year and Emerging Leader of the Year awards! Established in 2012 and 2018 respectively, the awards are given in honor of Kathy and Ron Phelps for their exceptional dedication to the Double H Ranch.
Volunteer of the Year
Congratulations to Nancy “Mama D” Driscoll, the 2019 Volunteer of the Year! “Mama D” began her volunteer career at Double H Ranch as a ski instructor over ten years ago and now volunteers in all seasons of camp. Nancy spends time as a camp counselor in the summer, a Family Pal in the Fall and Spring, and helps bring the joy of camp to children around the region through the Hospital Outreach Program. No matter the season, Nancy is known for making everyone at Double H feel like family. Whether it is encouraging a winter student to fly down the ski hill, host a competitive parent trivia night, or be the “mom” at summer camp to hold a child’s hand when they may be missing home – Nancy truly embodies the Core Values of camp. We are grateful for Nancy’s continued dedication to camp and giving so much of herself to help others.
Emerging Leader of the Year
We are honored to award Greg Altman the 2019 Emerging Leader of the Year Award! Greg began his Double H Ranch career as a camp counselor and is currently working toward an M.D. from Albany Medical College. Greg has helped build and develop an important service-learning partnership with AMC which helps recruit medical students to volunteer at camp. Through this program, Double H Ranch hopes to develop a stronger awareness of camp programs while providing an opportunity for medical students to gain valuable skills for their profession. Greg continues to volunteer in our summer program, family programs and Hospital Outreach Program. Double H Ranch is grateful for Greg’s commitment to making camp such a special place for campers, families, and his peers pursuing a medical degree.
Congratulations, Nancy and Greg!
