The Double H Ranch is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2019 Volunteer of the Year and Emerging Leader of the Year awards! Established in 2012 and 2018 respectively, the awards are given in honor of Kathy and Ron Phelps for their exceptional dedication to the Double H Ranch.
Volunteer of the Year
Congratulations to Michaela Conway, the 2021 recipient of the Volunteer of the Year award! Michaela first joined us at Double H in 2008 as a volunteer ski/snowboard instructor. She was 15 years old and immediately was one of the most requested instructors to be paired with. Michaela has a natural ability to connect with all campers that she meets, and it was evident from the age of 15 that she was going to be instrumental in the success of camp. When Michaela was old enough, she joined the summer team as a CIT and has progressed throughout each position at camp to become a relied-upon member of our leadership team. Michaela has been an instrumental volunteer in all seasons of program. As a cabin counselor, virtual program volunteer, PSIA certified snowboard instructor, family pal, OT facilitator for Lift and Transfer skills training, she makes every season at camp possible through her tireless dedication and amazing insight into the children and families we serve. Michaela says that “Camp is a place with such love. It’s a place that leads with love first.”
Emerging Leader of the Year
We are honored to announce Medha Palnati as the 2021 recipient of the Emerging Leader of the Year award! Medha first joined the Double H Ranch team in 2019 after her freshman year at Siena College. Her interactions with campers were genuine, kids always seemed to be laughing when around Medha and she was a strong role model for her cabin team. After the summer, Medha participated in our Hospital Outreach Program and volunteered as a Family Pal during our Fall Family weekends. Medha came back this past summer as a volunteer and again, whenever she was around kids and staff, everyone was laughing and smiling. Medha is a bright light felt by everyone at camp. Of her time at camp, Medha states: “The little moments are really what matters.”
Congratulations to Michaela and Medha!
Thank you for sharing these inspiring people.
Yes voting every day.
