We are excited to announce our 2023 Volunteers of the Year. Established in 2012, the awards are given in honor of Kathy and Ron Phelps for their exceptional dedication to the Double H Ranch. This year three volunteers took the top nomination spots, and we were so excited to honor them and our past recipients at our annual Holiday Party.
Lynne has been a volunteer in all areas of camp. She spends most of her volunteer time supporting our Development Office by preparing for all major events, stuffing envelopes, tracking donations, preparing event invitations, and creating gift bags. Lynne also takes her skills out of the Development Office and is often at summer camp opening days helping all our campers get checked in to camp. Lynne is one of those volunteers, you can call at a moment’s notice, and she is at camp ready to help. We are so grateful to have Lynne as one of our amazing volunteers and she is very deserving of the 2023 Volunteer of the Year Awards.
Gracie started at camp as a seasonal staff member but once she graduated college and started her career, Gracie instantly became one of our amazing volunteers. Gracie volunteers in all seasons at camp, in the summer she jumps in as a camp counselor, in the Fall and Spring she is a family pal and in the winter program she is a snowboard instructor. On the nomination forms, her peers stated: “Few have more passion for camp and are willing to do anything for camp than Gracie. Gracie is ready to serve the families throughout the year with exuberant passion, excitement, and care. Gracie is the truest example of ‘make it possible’ that I have ever seen at camp.” Congratulations to Gracie on this well-deserved award of Volunteer of the Year.
In 2012, Brianna joined us from Wagner College as part of their Physicians Assistance Program. Typically, due to their course load we only see Wagner students for one summer; however, Bree fell in love with Double H and has been a part of the program ever since. This past summer, Bree provided so much support for the summer camp program and was at camp so much, that people often thought she was a paid staff member. She spent her summer days out at the Ropes Course helping our campers feel success and then in the evenings would jump in as our camp photographer! During the Fall and Spring, she is a family pal and ropes course volunteer. Bree has been a volunteer ski instructor for many years, and this year she became a course conductor and will help educate and train other instructors. We are so happy that Bree has made Double H such a big part of her life and we are so grateful for all that she does at camp.
A heartfelt thank you and congratulations to Lynne, Gracie, and Bree!
