As we head into Summer 2011, we are recruiting new campers for our summer program. It’s amazing how many qualifying kids don’t know about what a wonderful summer camp program we have and we are working hard to get the word out! Double H Ranch provides exciting ways for campers to swing from the highest limbs and explore friendship and recreation the way summer intended them to. Children enjoy Adirondack magic – on water, land and treetop. Our experience is free of charge for children with life-threatening illnesses with daily activities designed and adapted to include all of our participants. A 2:1 camper to counselor ratio along with 24/7 onsite medical care ensures a carefree summer escape with limitless possibilities.
As part of our recruitment efforts, Scott and Tara just got back from Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York located on Long Island to recruit campers and meet the hospital staff in hopes to encourage them to promote camp at their hospital. It was a very successful visit and Scott will be headed back in a month to bring some camp fun to the children in the hospital.
We are also collaborating with our current hospital partners to increase the number of campers that they bring to camp each summer. It can be a difficult process for hospitals to increase their numbers due to budget cuts and a lack of staff who have the time needed to get the kids to camp. Our Admissions team works diligently with these hospitals to assist them in any way possible and to increase the ease in which it takes to get these deserving kids to camp.
Caroline has been doing a wonderful job with the individual campers (non-hospital groups) and is promoting camp through various health organizations. She is always on the phone talking to new parents about the program and answering all their questions to assure them that camp is one of the best places for their child!
We have found that the best way to spread the HH magic and create new connections is through our word-of-mouth from our parents, kids, staff and volunteers. If you know of a hospital or organization that serves children who might qualify and benefit from Double H, please contact our Admissions Department at 518-696-5676 ext. 222 or ext. 263.
