With just over two months until summer, Double H Ranch in Lake Luzerne has some serious work to do before it can open its doors to SeriousFun. Luckily, they’ll have the help they need to ensure that the extraordinary kids they serve can have their best summer yet.
On April 15, Double H will welcome Motorola Solutions for a high-powered work day, as it gears up for another exciting summer camp season of providing an unforgettable experience for children living with life-threatening medical conditions.
As part of their ongoing partnership with Double H, and in conjunction with a $10,000 financial contribution from the Motorola Solutions Foundation that will refurbish the fan-favorite ropes course, Motorola Solutions will send 40 employees to carry out an all-day labor of love to help Double H’s staff get ready for summer. Their main project will include renovating the ropes course at the Ranch, which will also be updated with an adaptive harness to provide an all-inclusive experience for all campers.
Motorola Solutions creates innovative, mission-critical communication solutions and services that help public safety and commercial customers build safer cities and thriving communities. Through their ongoing mission to benefit the communities where they operate, local employees are excited to be committing their third day-of-service in three years to the Ranch on April 15. They believe volunteering their time is necessary for forging strong community partnerships.
“Motorola Solutions employees from around the world are proud to help the communities where they live and work,” says Matt Blakely, executive director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. “Employees in the Northeast area will help at the Double H Ranch, a place that provides empowering experiences to children with life-threatening illnesses.”
Double H Ranch, part of the SeriousFun Children’s Network, has been providing year-round camp experiences for children with serious medical issues since its creation by Charles Wood and Paul Newman in 1993. Children are provided with an empowering camp experience that would not otherwise be possible, thanks to an all-star medical staff. All camps are free of charge to the children and families who attend, which, Double H says, is exactly why partnerships with companies like Motorola Solutions are so important.
“Work days and donations like this one from the Motorola Solutions Foundation are exactly why we’re able to do what we do. We couldn’t exist without the time, talent and treasure of all of our generous corporate partners,” said CEO Max Yurenda.
Double H Ranch hosts multiple work days throughout the year, which involve support from various corporate partners. Motorola Solutions’ employees say their day of service has become a highly anticipated event by all involved.
