It’s that time of year that we all (staff, volunteers, our kids and our Double H parents) have been waiting for – as we start the countdown to summer camp.
We are excited to reconnect with our existing family of 2,000 donors who sponsor a camper, as well as take on The Challenge presented by the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps this year – to raise $60,000 from donors who sponsor a camper for the very first time, in return for a $20,000 grant. To-date, ten individuals, businesses and organizations have chosen to lead the way as TrailGuides, by sponsoring one or more children for a week at Summer camp.
Andy Flynn from New York City grew up on a farm in Illinois, and felt an instant attachment to the Double H Ranch when he was given a tour by a good friend and counselor five years ago. Since then, Andy has sponsored twelve campers from the inner city for their week at camp and his employer, Goldman Sachs, has matched his gift dollar for dollar.
Dick Saunders, State Farm Insurance, Glens Falls, NY, a business acquaintance of Charley Wood, and his wife, Kay, are leading the way by sponsoring another camper this year, bringing their total to eight. Last year, after giving a presentation to the Kiwanis Club of Glens Falls, Kay’s emotional affirmation that she had been to the Double H in the summer and the winter and had personally experienced the magic, was more compelling than anything I could have said to the group.
This year, our TrailGuides are receiving an in to camp – an opportunity to spend time at camp and experience first-hand the impact of their gift. Join the Double H family of supporters and blaze your own trail today by sending a child to the Double H this summer. Click HERE to Blaze a Trail.
