The goal of Double H Ranch’s Outreach Program is to improve the quality of life for children and families in the community, hospital, or medical-based settings by bringing the magic of camp to them! The program offers a time of laughter, creativity, hope, friendship, and encouragement to children whose lives are disrupted and fractured by illness.
Recently, the Outreach Program has made a successful return into the hospital setting with visits to Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth, Albany Medical Center, and Pathways Rehabilitation Center. We’ve also hosted an evening out for Double H volunteers at an Adirondack Thunder hockey game, organized crafts for kids at several Saratoga Farmer’s Markets, and brought camp activities to Riverside Park, NYC for a Spring in the City event. In the coming season, we are excited to continue expanding access to camp! This fall, we will be hosting a Prom event at Double H for alumni campers aged 21 and older, adding hospital visits to partners in both Rochester and New York City, and hope to organize future events at museums, zoos, aquariums, and more!
Let’s glow camping!
This September, the Double H Outreach Program will be hosting our first ever camp Prom for all previous Double H campers aged 21 years and older. Spend the afternoon participating in fun workshops, like cooking and flower arranging, and returning to your favorite camp activity areas, like archery, arts & crafts, and the waterfront. Then enjoy an evening of dinner and dancing together under the stars. We hope you’ll join us this fall to reconnect with friends and make new camp memories!
- Date: Saturday, September 24, 2022
- Time: From 1:30pm-8:00pm
- Place: Double H Ranch
Pre-RSVP’d for Prom. To officially register and hold your spot at the event, please submit a registration form!
We are excited to welcome back former campers who are…
- At least 21 years and older.
- Have previously attended any Double H programs.
- Up to date on their COVID-19 vaccine series, including a booster dose if eligible. To ensure the safety of all guests, eligible attendees will also need to submit a negative rapid test on the day of the event.
All attendees are welcome to bring a plus one to the event as their guest – friend, family member, or date!
There is no dress code for Prom but if you are looking for guidance, we suggest “camp fancy.” Attendees are encouraged to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable and confident, with maybe a touch of sparkle. All attendees will also have access to the Double H costume room and a clothing library of Prom attire.
If you have gently used or new clothing to contribute to the Prom clothing library, we are currently accepting donations of dresses, suit pieces, ties, purses, jewelry, and more! Please reach out to Corinne Lafayette, Family Outreach Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org to coordinate donations.
There will be camper rooms available for day use during Prom. Attendees may use rooms as a place to store belongings, rest, and get ready for the evening activities.
Double H is unable to provide any overnight lodging. To help those who are traveling to the event, we have compiled a list of local hotels that can provide discounts for Double H participants. Please indicate that you are interested in local lodging when submitting your registration form to receive the list.
If you would like to volunteer for the Prom event, please visit our Volunteer Opportunities Page to learn more!
