The goal of Double H Ranch’s Outreach Program is to improve the quality of life for children and families in the community, hospital, or medical-based settings by bringing the magic of camp to them! The program offers a time of laughter, creativity, hope, friendship, and encouragement to children whose lives are disrupted and fractured by illness.
With the current state of the pandemic, Outreach is currently updating its programs and is planning to extend beyond hospital buildings. While we are anxiously awaiting to return to in-person hospital programming beginning in February, events are being pursued that will occur in the community. For those hospitals not able to receive volunteers at this time, Outreach will be offering themed activity boxes with recorded instructions for crafts and activities to be sent directly to each facility. Outreach will be at the Saratoga Farmer’s Market at the Wilton Mall once a quarter for a seasonal craft that is open to campers and the public.
Two very exciting events for 2022 include “Spring in the City” and the Young Adult Prom. “Spring in the City” is an opportunity for our campers in the NYC region and beyond to come to Central Park in Manhattan and enjoy some camp fun! The Young Adult Prom is an exciting day for our graduated alumni young adults who have previously been campers at Double H. Outreach is inviting young adults ages 21-30 to return to camp for an afternoon of networking, skill building, along with traditional camp activities such as fishing, arts and crafts, Discovery, etc. After a short break later in the afternoon, camp will turn into a beautiful night under the stars! This year’s theme is Glow in the Dark and will be a wonderful opportunity for graduated campers to reconnect with friends at a place that has shaped them and had an impact on their lives. Please stay tune for more information on these exciting events.
With the warmer weather on the horizon, Outreach is also looking into reserving days at museums, zoos, aquariums, and sporting events across the state of New York.
