Double H Ranch is deeply grateful to celebrate 25 incredible years of partnership with the Camp Bravehearts organization. Founded by Karen Haag and the late Joyce Chulock and Lori Walsh, with the support of former Double H Board Member JoAnn Lefner, Camp Bravehearts has created a lasting legacy of empowerment and healing for women experiencing cancer diagnoses.
It’s hard to believe the first Bravehearts weekend hosted at Double H was back in 2002! Since that time, the women of Camp Bravehearts have become a cherished part of our camp community—bringing joy, connection, and courage to countless campers. Over the years, the organization has generously donated more than $250,000 to Double H Ranch, a testament to their deep commitment and love for this shared mission.
“Hard to put into words what our relationship with HH means and has meant to us over all these years,” said Bravehearts Founder, Karen Haag. “The Double H Ranch is so intertwined with the culture of Camp Bravehearts — we share a beating heart. From leadership and staff to weekend volunteers, the HH model of care and compassion has significantly enriched our campers’ experience. We are so grateful to be able to enjoy HH twice a year — it is truly a magical place. You all help us put the Brave in our hearts, and we couldn’t love you more!”
To honor this milestone and the courageous campers of the Bravehearts organization, Double H Ranch recently dedicated its beloved stage as the “Stay Brave Stage.” The space is a fitting tribute to the strength, laughter, and love that Bravehearts has brought to camp for more than two decades. When future campers step onto the “Stay Brave Stage,” whether for a talent show act or a simple moment of self-expression, we hope they’re inspired by the spirit of Camp Bravehearts and the courage that connects everyone who comes to Double H.
“Bravehearts is a truly special organization, and we’re so proud to have played a small part in their 25 years of incredible impact,” shared Kate Walsh, Double H Camp Director. “Watching these women come together to genuinely celebrate the joy in their lives—despite the challenges of their diagnosis—is an unbelievable honor. I feel so lucky to know this group of strong, kind, funny, and inspiring women, and I’m deeply grateful that Bravehearts exists.”
