Double H Ranch is proud to honor Alan “Bones” Belensz, Louise Belensz, and their sweet therapy dog, Annie Bean, as our 2025 Volunteers of the Year—a trio who truly embodies the heart, joy, and magic of camp.
Alan and Louise first began volunteering more than ten years ago during the winter season, and since then, they have touched nearly every part of the Double H experience. We have been fortunate to welcome the entire Belensz family to work or volunteer in different capacities over the years, a testament to their deep commitment to camp and the impact that’s felt the moment they arrive. When Alan and Louise are at Double H, campers, staff, and fellow volunteers feel lighter, infused with a steady, joyful energy that lifts everyone in their presence.
Their willingness to jump in wherever needed is unmatched. Whether they’re supporting the ropes course, teaching on the ski hill, stepping into a cabin at a moment’s notice, or lending a helping hand behind the scenes, Alan and Louise do it all with flexibility, kindness, and enthusiasm.
Louise has a special gift for connecting with campers—turning everyday moments into meaningful memories, from reading favorite bedtime stories and practicing talent show acts to making unforgettable morning horse noises.
Alan is always a reassuring presence at the ropes course or on the ski hill, bringing the perfect balance of comfort, encouragement, and humor to help campers and families try new things, conquer fears, and build confidence.
And then there’s Annie Bean. With her steady, playful presence, she has brought countless smiles to campers, offering 51 hours of K9 happiness this year alone.
In 2025, Alan and Louise collectively volunteered more than 470 hours, giving generously of their time to ensure every camper feels welcome, supported, and at home. Together, Alan, Louise, and Annie Bean represent the very best of Double H Ranch—kindness, fun, and heart in its truest form. We are endlessly grateful, and camp is genuinely better because they are part of our community.
