Description:
Cabin Counselor Volunteers are enthusiastic, nurturing individuals who join a staff of counselors in caring for a cabin of campers throughout the 6-day session. Each day, volunteers participate in cabin activities, camp program areas, mealtimes and evening events with their cabin. They work closely with fellow volunteers, staff, and the medical team to ensure that campers have their needs met, are having a positive experience, and are staying safe.
Requirements:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Prior experience or interest in working with children.
- Complete e-learning courses and attend onsite training the day before their session begins.
Accommodations:
Residential – Cabin Counselor Volunteers are provided housing and meals during camp sessions.

Description:
Barn Activity Volunteers help ensure a safe environment at our barn program area by facilitating activities like horseback riding, feeding goats and donkeys, small animal interactions, and more. Shifts range from 3-4 hours at a time.
Requirements:
- At least 16 years of age.
- Prior experience or interest in working with children.
- Prior barn, horse, or small animal experience preferred.
- Complete required e-learning courses and onsite training upon arrival.
Accommodations:

Description:
General Activity Volunteers assist in facilitating activities at Arts & Crafts, Discovery (science), Team Adventure (sports & team building), Outdoor Extreme (nature), and the Waterfront areas. Includes set-up and clean up of materials, assisting campers and family members, and facilitating activities. Shifts range from 3-4 hours at a time.
Volunteers will be assigned to activity areas based on experience and interest to the best of our ability.

Description:
Ropes Activity Volunteers assist Double H staff in operating our ropes course program area. Volunteers will help with set up and take down of the course, sizing harnesses and helmets for campers, and managing participants. Shifts range from 3-4 hours at a time.

- At least 16 years of age.
- Prior experience or interest in working with children.
- Prior ropes course or climbing experience.
- Complete required e-learning courses and onsite training upon arrival.

Description:
Gift Shop Volunteers run the retail shop at Double H. Volunteers are responsible for processing purchases, keeping stock organized and presentable, and re-stocking items as necessary. Volunteers deliver excellent customer service for families, staff, and volunteers during the final day of each session.

Office helpers assist year-round staff with the preparation of camper materials, nametags, welcome packets, scanning, filing, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Description:
Registration Day Volunteers welcome campers to Double H on the first day of each session with cheers and enthusiasm. They support the camper check-in process through distributing t-shirts and water bottles, organizing and transporting camper luggage, and providing parents and guardians with important information, like schedules and pick up times.

Snack Cart Stars deliver on-the-go snacks to Double H campers, staff, and volunteers after their rest time each day. They support the camper experience by making deliveries fun and exciting, sending everyone back into programming with added energy and joy after a restful period.

Description:
Certified therapy animals and their handlers support weekend programs by visiting campers and families throughout the day.
Requirements:
- Handlers must be at least 18 years of age.
- Animals must be certified therapy animals.
- Handlers complete e-learning courses.

Description:
Volunteer Drivers support summer camp by providing scheduled transportation for campers, volunteers, and staff throughout the season. Drivers utilize Double H vehicles to bring others between camp and various public transit hubs, like the Albany train and bus stations.
Requirements:
- At least 21 years of age.
- Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Complete e-learning courses and a driver’s training course.
Accommodations:

Medical Positions

Description:
Cabin Nurses join a camper cabin to provide routine medical care, pass daily medications, and monitor the health of campers throughout their six-day session. Children of Cabin Nurses are eligible to apply to attend camp during their parent’s volunteer session.

Description:
Pharmacy Volunteers help ensure safety by reviewing the intake of camper medications on opening day. Once the Cabin Nurse receives and records each camper’s medications for the week, Pharmacy Volunteers double check each medication to ensure accuracy, adequate supply, clear instructions, and expiration dates.
Requirements:
- All Medical Volunteers must be professionally licensed to practice in New York State.

Training
Summer volunteer training consists of online and in-person courses. Depending on your role in the program, training will cover everything you need to prepare…
- E-Learning: Complete modules about Double H core values, volunteer responsibilities, and more.
- Orientation: Residential cabin counselor volunteers will have an orientation on the afternoon before their session begins, also known as Day 0 at camp. Double H staff will review topics like the program schedule, child behavior techniques, camper medical needs, and volunteer expectations before the program begins.
- Activity Volunteer Training: Activity volunteers are invited to join us at Double H for an afternoon! Learn more about our campers, running adaptive activities, and volunteer expectations before your time in program.
